Beef Stew in Hoisin Sauce

Ingredients

•• 400g stewing beef

•• 100g carrots

•• 200g potato

•• 20g garlic, finely chopped

•• 1 Tbsp shallots, finely chopped

•• 3 Star anise (optional)

sauce mix

•• 5 Tbsp Lee Kum Kee Hoisin Sauce

•• 2 Tbsp Lee Kum Kee Oyster Sauce

•• 250ml water

•• 15g rock sugar

•• 300ml Red wine

 

Method

  1. Dice beef, carrot and potato into 2cm cubes.
  2. Sauté garlic and shallots until soft, turn up the heat, add in the beef and stir fry until browned.
  3. Add in the vegetables, star anise and sauce mix, bring to the boil, then turn down
    the heat and simmer for 2 hours or until the beef is tender.

••  Why not try to use other cuts of meat for a more cost effective option for your business?
      E.g. Beef cheek is great for stewing and can be cooked to melt in the mouth!

••  Using 1 tsp of Lee Kum Kee Dark Soy Sauce will deliver the deep color and enhance
       the appearance of the dish.
